  • Lower risk compared to high-voltage equipment
  • Low LCC (Low Cycle Cost)

Where power meets efficiency

Hybrid technology is an especially economical technology for use on local lines where braking and acceleration in stop-and-go mode are frequent. This is because its energy reserves are not only available for starting and acceleration, but can also be used to power auxiliary systems such as air conditioning compressors.

The Powerpack Hybrid is based on a diesel engine with an SCR exhaust gas aftertreatment system with urea tank, which delivers 315 kW at 1,800 rpm, with an electric motor for maximum output of 400 kW. This drive system can be operated using only the diesel engine, only the electric motor or a combination of both. A specially developed starter generator can be used as a generator or electric motor. A frequency converter regulates the flow of energy from the battery to the motor/generator and vice versa, allowing the operating mode to be adapted to the route profile at any time. During braking, part of the kinetic energy is transformed into electrical energy and stored temporarily in a set of lithium-ion batteries.
